Ian Clarke einer der führenden Flötisten und Komponisten in der Flötenwelt. Seine Kompositionen werden weltweit aufgeführt. Seine Werke haben sich als einige der aufregendsten Flötenrepertoires von heute etabliert und werden von international renommierten Interpreten, Lehrplänen, Lehrern, Hochschulen und Studenten gleichermaßen angenommen.
Ian hat als Gast-Solist und Lehrer auf wichtigen Kongressen und Veranstaltungen in Brasilien, Kanada, Island, Japan, vielen europäischen Ländern und zahlreichen Malen für die British Flute Society (BFS) und für die NFA (National Flute Association) in den USA aufgetreten. Im Jahr 2017 brachte er sein neues Konzert für Flöte und Streicher bei der NFA-Konvention in Minneapolis 2017 zur Uraufführung. Seine gefeierte CD 'Within' gehört zu den Bestsellern der Flötenwelt, und sein Album Deep Blue erreichte die Top 10 in der UK Classical Artist Chart; es wird angenommen, dass dies das erste Mal für ein Album mit origineller Flötenmusik ist. Er hat Meisterkurse an vielen führenden Musikkonservatorien gegeben, darunter die Royal Academy of Music (RAM) und die Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) in London, bis hin zur Juilliard School und der Manhattan School of Music (MSM) in New York, und in Ländern von Brasilien bis Japan. In seiner Karriere hat er in Genres von der klassischen Oper bis hin zu einem Gastspiel mit der Rockgruppe Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson aufgetreten. Er pflegt eine langjährige Beziehung zu Flutewise (UK) und war ihr Künstler des Jahres. Ian war Gastkünstler bei vielen der führenden Flötenkursen. Gemeinsam mit Clare Southworth von der RAM leitete er viele Jahre lang die Woldingham International Summer School. Im Jahr 2016 war er im Kurs "Complete 21st Century Flutist" in Kalifornien zu sehen und kehrte 2018 zurück. 2018 wird die Grolloo Flute Session 4 Ians vierte jährliche Zusammenarbeit mit Matthias Ziegler, Wissam Boustany, Tim Carey und Eva Kingma in den Niederlanden sein. Ian unterrichtet und spielt seit mehr als einem Jahrzehnt auf der Scottish International Flute Summer School. Durch seine Führung, Mitführung und Beiträge zu zahlreichen Flötenveranstaltungen hat Ian mit Menschen jeden Alters und auf jeder Stufe in der Flötenwelt und darüber hinaus zusammengearbeitet.
Als preisgekrönter Student studierte Ian Clarke bei Simon Hunt, Averil Williams und Kate Lukas an der Guildhall School of Music in London. Gleichzeitig studierte er Mathematik am Imperial College London und schloss mit Auszeichnung ab. Ian ist Professor für Flöte an der Guildhall School of Music & Drama und Senior Fellow des Higher Education Academy.
Ian hat umfangreich mit dem Musiker/Komponisten Simon Painter zusammengearbeitet und unter dem Namen Diva Music (www.divamusic.co.uk) Musik für Film und Fernsehen geschrieben, produziert und aufgeführt.

Ian Clarke is acknowledged as one of the leading player/composers in the flute world. His compositions are performed across the globe and these wide-ranging published works have established themselves as some of the most exciting flute repertoire of today and are being embraced by internationally acclaimed performers, syllabuses, teachers, colleges & students alike.
Ian has performed as a featured guest soloist and teacher at major conventions and events in Brazil, Canada, Iceland, Japan, many European countries and numerous times for the British Flute Society (BFS) and for the NFA (National Flute Association) in the USA. In 2017 he premiered his new concerto for flute & strings at the 2017 Minneapolis, NFA convention. His acclaimed CD ‘Within’ has been one the flute world’s best sellers and his album Deep Blue reached the top 10 in the UK Classical Artist Chart; thought to be a first for an album of original flute music. He has given master-classes at many of the leading music conservatoires including London's Royal Academy of Music (RAM) & Guildhall School of Music & Drama (GSMD) through to New York's Juilliard & MSM and in countries from Brazil to Japan. In his career he has performed in genres ranging from classical opera to a guest appearance with rock group Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson. He has had a long relationship with Flutewise (UK) and has been their artist of the year and Ian has been a guest artist at many of the top flute courses. Along with RAM's Clare Southworth, he co-led the Woldingham International Summer School for many years. In 2016 he featured in the Complete 21st Century Flutist course in California returning in 2018. In 2018 Grolloo Flute Session 4 will be Ian's 4th annual collaboration with Matthias Ziegler, Wissam Boustany, Tim Carey and Eva Kingma in the Netherlands. Ian has been teaching and playing at the Scottish International Flute Summer School for more than a decade. Through leading, co-leading and contributing to a myriad of flute events, Ian has enjoyed working with all ages and stages in fluteland and beyond.
A prize-winning student, Ian studied part-time with Simon Hunt, Averil Williams and Kate Lukas of the Guildhall School of Music, London. He concurrently studied Mathematics at Imperial College, London graduating with Honours. Ian is professor of flute at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
