Christian Plouvier

Christian Plouvier is widely regarded as one of the worlds’ top flutist actively performing around the globe. Above and beyond his unquestioned virtuosity his music warms peoples’ hearts and his personal charisma never fails to delight his audience. A classically trained musician, Christian Plouvier continues to expand his range of musical genres. His concerts include jazz ensembles, traditional Asian instrumental duo concerts and concert performances with Middle Eastern instruments. These performances include concerts with the popular pipa performer Yen Jiang in China, the famous koto player Kayoko Nakagawa in Japan, as well as the “Mugam” musicians from Azerbaijan.

Christian Plouvier graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and specialised with the great French masters Alain Marion and Jean-Pierre Rampal.
Before launching his international career he performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (Antwerpen), the Flemish Opera Orchestra (Antwerpen-Gent) and the National Orchestra of Belgium. He continues to perform regularly as a guest soloist with orchestras around the world. His discography includes Flutissimo, Beyond Borders, Romantic Flute Sonatas and Symbiophony.

Apart from performing Christian Plouvier enjoys a successful teaching career travelling worldwide to give master classes and seminars. He is a regular jury member for international flute competitions (Beijing, Bratislava, Taipei).
He is a Miyazawa Flute Artist for over 30 years, using a 9K flute, a silver flute and an Alto flute.
