Carlo Jans begann im Alter von sieben Jahren mit dem Flötenspiel und erhielt ab seinem zwölften Lebensjahr zusätzlich Violinunterricht. Nach seiner Ausbildung in Luxemburg und Nancy setzte er sein Studium am Conservatoire Royal de Liège fort. Als Schüler von Raymond Guiot wurde er mit dem „1er Prix Supérieur de la Ville de Paris“ ausgezeichnet. Anschließend absolvierte er ein zweijähriges Aufbaustudium an der Hochschule für Musik Köln in der Meisterklasse von András Adorján und erhielt zudem Privatunterricht bei dem renommierten Flötisten Aurèle Nicolet.
Offen für neue musikalische Horizonte studierte Jans Dirigieren bei Jan Stulen und Jean-Philippe Rieu an der Musikhochschule Maastricht, wo er sein Dirigierdiplom mit Auszeichnung erwarb. Es folgten ein Aufbaustudium an der Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek sowie weitere Dirigierstudien bei Jorma Panula in St. Petersburg. Seine Ausbildung schloss Carlo Jans mit einem Doctor in Arts an der Musikakademie Łódź in Polen ab.
Seit 1984 unterrichtete Carlo Jans Flöte und Kammermusik am Conservatoire de Luxembourg. 1999 wurde er zum Professor für Flöte und Dirigieren ernannt und übernahm die Leitung der Orchester des Konservatoriums. Seit 1997 wird er regelmäßig zu Meisterkursen in den Niederlanden, Frankreich, Belgien, Deutschland, Griechenland, Polen, Tschechien, Brasilien, den USA, Japan, China und Russland eingeladen.
Darüber hinaus ist Carlo Jans regelmäßig zu Gast bei nationalen und internationalen Flötenkongressen, darunter die NFA Conventions in New York (2009) und Anaheim (2010), die Flute Meetings Greece (2008 und 2009) sowie Veranstaltungen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Flöte und niederländischer Flötenverbände.
Von September 2002 bis 2009 unterrichtete Carlo Jans an der Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken. Aufgrund der zunehmenden Zahl seiner Solokonzerte und weltweiter Einladungen zu Meisterkursen musste er diese Tätigkeit schließlich aufgeben.
Seit 2009 ist Carlo Jans Mitglied des international renommierten Kammerorchesters Solistes Européens – Luxembourg, das sich aus Konzertmeistern und Solisten führender europäischer Orchester zusammensetzt.
1988 gründete er das Forum International pour flûte et piano Diekirch/Luxembourg. In den vergangenen 38 Jahren nahmen an diesem Sommerkurs mehr als 2.000 Studierende aus über 60 Nationen teil. Neben seiner langjährigen pädagogischen Tätigkeit verfolgt Carlo Jans eine aktive Karriere als Flötist und Dirigent.
Als Solist wurde er von zahlreichen Orchestern eingeladen, darunter das RTL Symphony Orchestra – mit dem er bereits im Alter von 15 Jahren auftrat –, das Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra (OCL), Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Orchestre de Chambre d’Auvergne, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, National Polish Radio Orchestra, Brno State Philharmonic Orchestra, Oltenia Philharmonic Orchestra Craiova, Sibiu Philharmonic Orchestra, Städtisches Orchester Münster, Porto Symphony Orchestra, Switzerland Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra Estro Armonico, Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg (OCL), Orchestre de Chambre Jean-François Paillard sowie das Latvian Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, bei dem er seit 1997 auch als Gastdirigent tätig ist.
Zu seinen musikalischen Partnern zählen Flötisten wie András Adorján, Maxence Larrieu, János Bálint und Jean-Claude Gérard, die Pianisten Daniel Blumenthal und Gabriel Tacchino, der Jazzpianist Claude Bolling, der Violinist Jean-Jacques Kantorow, die Bratschistin Jitka Hosprová, der Cellist Mirel Iancovici und die Harfenistin Kateřina Englichová sowie Kammermusikensembles wie das Zürcher Streichtrio, das Danel Quartet, das Zemlinsky Quartet und das Martinů Quartet. Als Dirigent begleitete er Solisten wie Cyprien Katsaris, András Adorján, Steven Mead, Daniel Blumenthal und János Bálint.
Zahlreiche Komponisten schrieben Solowerke, Kammermusik und Konzerte für Carlo Jans. Seine Diskografie umfasst mehr als 50 CDs für Labels wie Pavane Records, Calliope, Arco Diva, Bella Musica und Hänsler Classics. Seine Aufnahmen erhielten hervorragende Kritiken in der internationalen Presse und wurden mit renommierten Preisen ausgezeichnet, darunter dem Grand Prix du Disque für seine Einspielung der Kammermusik von Manuel Rosenthal.

Carlo Jans began taking flute lessons at the age of seven and violin lessons at twelve. After completing his initial training in Luxembourg and Nancy, he continued his studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège. As a student of Raymond Guiot, he was awarded the “1er Prix Supérieur de la Ville de Paris”. He subsequently completed a two-year postgraduate programme at the Cologne University of Music in the masterclass of András Adorján and also received private lessons from the renowned flutist Aurèle Nicolet.
Open to new musical horizons, Jans studied conducting with Jan Stulen and Jean-Philippe Rieu at the Maastricht Academy of Music, graduating with honours in conducting. This was followed by a postgraduate diploma at the Zuid Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek and further conducting studies with Jorma Panula in St. Petersburg. Carlo Jans completed his studies with a Doctor in Arts at the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland.
Since 1984, Carlo Jans has taught flute and chamber music at the Conservatoire de Luxembourg. In 1999, he was appointed Professor of Flute and Conducting and began directing the conservatoire’s orchestras. Since 1997, he has regularly been invited to give masterclasses in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Poland, the Czech Republic, Brazil, the United States, Japan, China and Russia.
Carlo Jans is also a regular guest at national and international flute conventions, including the NFA Conventions in New York (2009) and Anaheim (2010), Flute Meetings Greece (2008 and 2009), as well as events organised by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Flöte and Dutch flute associations.
From September 2002 to 2009, Carlo Jans taught at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken, Germany. He eventually had to give up this position due to the increasing number of solo engagements and invitations to teach around the world.
Since 2009, Carlo Jans has been a member of the internationally renowned chamber orchestra Solistes Européens – Luxembourg, which brings together concertmasters and soloists from leading European orchestras.

Carlo Jans commence l’apprentissage de la flûte à l’âge de sept ans, puis celui du violon à douze ans.
